I'm the Boss of My Body on Sat. 2/1 from 10:30 - 2
This is a half-day workshop on Saturday, February 1, 2025 will be facilitated by GPS Founder, Konika Ray Wong M.Ed for girls and gender expansive youth ages 9 - 12.
The session will cover two topics and include two fun, hands-on science experiments with a lunch break in between.
Our treehouse classroom is located in the Glen Park neighborhood in San Francisco.
Registration includes a parent education workshop (see description below).
“I’m the Boss of My Body” from 10:30 am - 12 pm
Description: Research shows that talking about consent and boundaries from the age of three increases self-awareness, self-esteem, and allows kids to recognize and confront things that are uncomfortable or inappropriate. In this class, we will talk about our personal space bubble and ways to keep ourselves safe if someone invades it.
12:00 - 12:30 pm Lunch Break in our Garden (Students will bring their own lunch)
“We Can Build Human” 12:30 - 2:00 pm
Description: We will begin by brainstorming diverse family structures. Then, we’ll learn about all of the possibilities they can choose if they want to add a baby to the mix. This class will cover basic male and female reproductive anatomy, sexual reproduction, adoption, egg and sperm donation, surrogacy, and in vitro fertilization.
The class fee includes a virtual parent education workshop in which Konika will preview all of the content she will cover with the students so that parents can reinforce the same wording and concepts at home.
The virtual parent education workshop will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:00 am. We will share a recording with parents that are unable to attend the live zoom.
After you register, you will receive an email with logistical details.
Konika also sends a follow-up email after the workshop with a summary of what questions were submitted in the anonymous curiosity box.
She will share any note-worthy student shares from the group discussions while keeping student names confidential.
Please note that all sales are final. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, we recommend that you find a friend to take your spot.
