I’m the Boss of My Body!

A Body Safety Workshop for Parents & Young Children

Saturday, October 24 | 3:00–4:00 p.m.
$75 per parent-child pair | Includes a take-home book

It’s never too early to help your child build the confidence to speak up about their body, boundaries, and feelings—and learn to respect those of others! Designed for children in preschool through first grade of all genders, this special interactive workshop gives children and their trusted grownups the tools to begin meaningful, age-appropriate conversations about body safety, consent, and mutual respect.

Join GPS founder and children’s book author Konika Ray Wong, M.Ed., in collaboration with special guest educator, Rebecca Walsh, Director of Early Childhood Matters, for a playful, hands-on learning experience that brings these important concepts to life.

Together, you and your child will:

  • Explore boundaries, consent, and personal space through story time, games, snacks, and a fun science experiment.

  • Learn how to recognize, communicate, and respect personal boundaries—including understanding that everyone gets to have a say about their own body.

  • Practice asking for permission, listening when someone says “no,” and finding ways to show affection that feel comfortable for everyone.

  • Discover age-appropriate ways to talk about body autonomy and help children feel confident expressing their needs while respecting the needs of others.

  • Build a foundation for ongoing conversations about safety, empathy, respect, and listening to your body.

Real-life questions. Practical guidance. Skills you can use every day.

What do you say when your child insists, “My body, my choice!” at bath time? How can you support your child when grandparents expect hugs they don’t want to give? And how do you teach your child to respect another person’s “no,” even when they really want a hug or a turn with a toy?

We’ll explore these common parenting dilemmas and discuss ways to honor children’s boundaries while helping them understand safety, family expectations, empathy, and respectful communication.

Konika will read her children’s book, How to Tame a Tickle Monster: A First Book About Body Safety, followed by engaging activities for children and their trusted grownups to enjoy together.

Your $75 registration includes one child, one adult, and a copy of How to Tame a Tickle Monster: A First Book About Body Safety to take home—so you can continue learning and practicing these important skills long after the workshop ends.

Let’s build kills that grow with your child: the confidence to speak up, the ability to recognize and respect boundaries, and the understanding that every person’s body and voice matter.

Note: We are happy to offer this workshop on a different date in the future, just let us know! You can email Konika at info@girlpowerscience.com

We never want finances to be a barrier to joining our workshops. If cost is a concern, please reach out to inquire about our sliding scale options. We want you here!
