Puberty Power

10 - 11:30 am Cost: $100

Girl & Grown-Up Format

Did you know girls have amazing superpowers and some of them activate during puberty? This class is perfect for a positive introduction to the concept of puberty. It gives girls the tools and knowledge to be their strong, confident selves during this transformation.

We’ll play the popular brain game team challenge and encourage a little good hygiene by making bath bombs to take home.

Note: We will not be covering content about periods during this introductory class. Our “Go with the Flow” workshop covers menstruation later in the afternoon.

We will be learning about female puberty changes. Gender expansive and gender non-binary youth are welcome to attend.

Go with the Flow

Saturday, April 27th

1 - 2:30 pm Cost: $100

Girl & Grown-Up Format

Did you know that you were born with one million eggs in your body and one day you will release your first egg? In this workshop, we will celebrate our healthy growing bodies and get an empowering introduction to the science of menstruation. We will learn about some amazing new inventions and creative strategies to prepare for our first period and beyond both physically and mentally.

The workshop will include a special book reading of “One in a Million - A First Book About Periods” by the author, enhanced with some 3-D visual aids and scientific models.

We’ll apply the scientific method during two fun science experiments. Kids will go home with a first period kit perfect for tucking in their school backpack and a special surprise.

I can’t say enough good things about Konika’s mission and classes. We did a mother-daughter class about periods a few weeks ago with our soon-to-be 10 year olds. Her teaching style is engaging and informative. She’s created a fun and relaxed space to discuss puberty and menstruation openly and candidly, removing the shame that never should have been there in the first place. It was a fun morning with laughter, bonding, and joy.

Foods That Fuel Our Girl Power!

Private Booking Scheduled on Demand

Did you know that the foods we eat literally build our bodies and fuel our girl power? In this workshop, we will learn about intuitive eating and the science of how different foods can help grow our girl power. We’ll also explore media literacy skills to decipher how some advertisements try to trick us into buying their products.

Our workshop will culminate with a fun cooking project in which we make organic chia pudding with a rainbow of our favorite fresh fruits.

You Glow Girl! Body Image

Private Booking Scheduled on Demand

Our body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically and how we believe others see us. We are surrounded by unrealistic beauty standards and awareness helps us embrace our features. In this class, we’ll learn about genetics, metabolism, and our identity as a foundation for understanding why healthy humans have diverse shapes, sizes, and skin tones.

We’ll introduce some basic media literacy skills to help us think critically when we see advertisements with images of models. For our fun science experiment, we’ll extract DNA from strawberries and make a necklace with the actual DNA to take home.

I’m the Boss of My Body!

Private Booking Scheduled on Demand

Kids love structure and clear rules keep them safe. This class empowers kids to communicate boundaries and understand consent. We’ll talk about consent in a lighthearted, nonsexual context that is developmentally appropriate. Through fun games and activities, your daughter will go home with a clear understanding of body safety rules. Think of it as self defense without physical force.

This class will culminate with a fun art project/science experiment with eight different watercolor resist techniques.

We can Build a Human

Private Booking Scheduled on Demand

Prerequisite: Parent Education Class “We can build a human”

Why do our bodies change during puberty? We can build a human! In this class, we will begin by brainstorming diverse family structures. Then, we’ll learn about all of the possibilities these families can choose if they decide to add a baby to the mix. This class will cover basic male and female reproductive anatomy, sexual reproduction, adoption, egg and sperm donation, surrogacy, and in vitro fertilization. By the end of class, the kids always say they’ll definitely choose the in vitro route!

Since all of the reproductive methods we will learn about begin with an egg, our class will culminate with a fun engineering design challenge - the egg drop experiment!

“My daughter felt like she was the only one going through changes until she took the class series. She came home so relieved that she’s not alone and her peers are in the same boat.”
