Interactive Online Classes for Families

Take a twenty minute mini workshop with your child from the comfort of your own home! These online classes are for kids ages 7 - 10 and one or more grownups in their family. These are live Zoom sessions with a mini lesson led by Konika Ray Wong, M.Ed and prompts to encourage interactive discussions with your child. Each mini workshop is $20.

Kids love structure and clear rules keep them safe. This class empowers kids to communicate boundaries and understand consent. We’ll talk about consent in a nonsexual context that is developmentally appropriate. Your child will work with you to create body safety rules that they can refer back to anytime they experience interactions that make them feel uncomfortable. Think of it as self defense without physical force.

Did you know that you were born with millions of eggs in your body and one day you will release your first egg? In this class, we will learn all about menstruation and the amazing inventions and tools that can help us be prepared for our first period.

This class includes a hands-on science experiment called the “Pad Lab.” Materials needed: scissors, paper towel, teaspoon, cup of water, blue food color, menstrual pad

Girls have amazing superpowers and some of them activate during puberty! This mini-workshop gives girls the tools and knowledge to be their strong, confident selves during this transformation.

The class will reframe three pubertal changes as superpowers: growth spurts, mood swings and breast buds.

We Can Build a Human

Why do our bodies change during puberty? We can build a human! In this class, we will begin by brainstorming diverse family structures. Then, we’ll learn about all of the possibilities these families can choose if they decide to add a baby to the mix. This class will cover basic male and female reproductive anatomy, sexual reproduction, adoption, egg and sperm donation, surrogacy, and in vitro fertilization. By the end of class, the kids always say they’ll definitely choose the in vitro route!

You are what you eat. Fueling Our Girl Power!

Did you know that the foods we eat literally build our bodies and fuel our girl power? In this class, we will learn about how different foods can help grow our girl power. We’ll also explore what foods are healthy and use our media literacy skills to decipher how some advertisements try to trick us into thinking their products are healthy.

Our class will culminate with a fun cooking project in which we make chia pudding with a rainbow of our favorite fresh fruits. Materials needed: bowl, spoon, two tablespoons of chia seeds, 1/2 cup milk or yogurt, fresh or frozen berries of your choice, cinnamon or cardamom, optional sweetener of your choice

Our body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically and how we believe others see us. In this class, we’ll learn about genetics, metabolism, and our identity as a foundation for understanding why healthy humans have diverse shapes, sizes, and skin tones.

It is common for tween friendships to evolve and the post-pandemic social landscape can be tricky to navigate. What are the positive signs of a healthy friendship? How can we take action when we notice warning signs of an unhealthy friendship? Most importantly, how can we grow our girl power by practicing self love, self care, and firm boundaries.
