Girl & Grown-up “You Glow Girl!” (Body Confidence and Body Image)

Our body image is how we think and feel about ourselves physically and how we believe others see us. We are surrounded by unrealistic beauty standards and awareness helps us embrace our features. In this class, we’ll learn about genetics and metabolism as a foundation for understanding why healthy humans have diverse shapes, sizes, and skin tones.

We’ll introduce some basic media literacy skills to help us think critically when we see advertisements with images of models. For our fun science experiment, we’ll extract DNA from strawberries and make a necklace with the actual DNA to take home.
